Shoes have always been something that I found interesting to draw because of their complex curves and laces. At the time of creating this project, I wore my Sk8-Hi Black Vans everywhere and they became my muse. Taking something with such complexities and creating a simplified illustration of them, made me focus on what really mattered in conveying the shoe. It wasn't the stitching, the logo or the individual laces; it was the curves of the shoe that mattered. When I went to combine the final illustration with it's letter, I kept this concept in mind and found a way for the "s" to follow the curves of the shoe, seamlessly fitting into place.
